【ルワンダ受講生インタビュー】Janvierさん「ルワンダの底力を世界に知らしめる！」

ルワンダ受講生のJanvierさんにインタビューいたしました。ルワンダの未来への熱意を語ってくれました。

2019年7月に開校した、ディープロルワンダ校。ディープロ東京校から代表の野呂とメンターが1名、現地に渡航してプログラミングを教えてきました。

学習が進んで1ヶ月した頃に受講生インタビューを実施！Janvier Mutuyimanaさんにお話を伺いました。

1年目は誰にとっても難しいが、理解したら楽しいのがプログラミング

この最初の1ヶ月間、プログラミングをしてみて、お気持ちはいかがですか？

“How do you feel this programming experience for the first month?”

Janvierさん「プログラムを書くことが夢だったので、とても嬉しいです。以前プログラミングを勉強していたことがあって、ソフトウェアエンジニアになることを夢見ていました。大学ではコンピューターサイエンスを専攻しましたが、プログラムの経験を積むことはあまりできませんでした。でも今は、ディープロでやっとその機会を得ることができたんです。」

Mr. Janvier “Actually I feel good because it was my dream. When I was young, I was studying programming and seeing how I can be a software developer. I did a bachelor’s in computer science but I didn’t get a chance of more experience. But finally, I do have the opportunity of ディープロ.”

プログラミングは楽しいですか？難しいですか？

“Is programming fun or difficult?”

Janvierさん「理解した時はおもしろいと感じますね。最初はすべてが難しかったです。テクノロジーに関しては、1年目は誰もが難しく感じると思います。でも理解し始めてきたら、一気にとてもおもしろくなり、楽しめるようになるんです。」

Mr. Janvier “When you understand it, it becomes fun. Because at first, I saw everything difficult. In technology, when you are in the first year, you somehow see things difficult, but when you understand it, it becomes very fun and enjoyable.”

自国のために、どのようにプログラミングを活かしたいですか？

“How do you want to use programming for your country?”

Janvierさん「政府のさまざまなシステムを自動化することによって、社会に貢献したいです。多くのポジションは、いまだに手動で行われているので、それらを自動化すれば、仕事も早く終わります。」

Mr. Janvier “I want to use it to help society according to the government. Many positions use manual systems, but if we use digital systems, we can easily achieve the goal with a little bit of time.”

先進国との協働や国内でのプログラミング教育は、発展促進に欠かせない

海外のエンジニアと働くことについては、どうお考えですか？

“How do you think about working with foreign countries’ developers?”

Janvierさん「良いと思います。昨年、それぞれの国のエンジニアの人数を示す統計を見ましたが、ルワンダは上位の国に入っていませんでした。もし僕たちが、先進国のエンジニアたちと共同で働けたら、彼らからたくさん学ぶことができるし、ルワンダも先進国と同じくらい発展できるようになります。そして、ルワンダも底力があることを世界に知らしめることができます。さらに発展すれば、仕事を増やすことができるので、全体的にとても良いと思います。」

Mr. Janvier “I think it’s fine. Last year, I saw a statistic of the number of programmers in countries, and I found no Rwanda in the top countries. If we collaborate with developers from some rich countries, we can learn a lot from them and our country can develop as much as rich countries. Then we can show the world that we have that ability too. In addition, if we achieve development, we can create more jobs, so it’ll be totally good.”

あなたの夢を教えてください。

“What is your dream?”

Janvierさん「僕の夢はプロのソフトウェアエンジニアになることです。また、小さい子供たちにプログラミングを教えたいとも考えています。最近、『もし自分が小学生の頃からプログラミングを習っていたら』と考えるんです。きっと今はすでにデキるエンジニアになっていたでしょう。小さい子供たちの学年に合わせ、難易度など、いくつかのコースを設立したいです。」

Mr. Janvier “My dream is to become a professional software developer. Also, I want to be a lecturer and teach young people programming. These days I was thinking what if I studied programming when I was in primary. I must have already become a skilled engineer. I’d like to build some courses depending on their age and difficulties will fit their ages.”

信頼あるプログラムへの参加は自身のキャリアのメリットに

“Please give comments to ディープロ.”

Janvierさん「ディープロはとても良いプログラムで、参加できてとても嬉しいです。メールでこのプログラムに参加できることを知った時は本当に信じられなくて、夢が叶ったと思いました。ディープロは政府とも連携しているので、このプログラムに参加できたことは、僕のキャリアにとってもメリットとなるでしょう。本当にありがとうございました。」

Mr. Janvier “ディープロ is a good course and I am lucky to be in the program. When I received the email that I could get in this program, I felt amazing and thought my dream came true! ディープロ is collaborating with the government so it really helps my official career. Thank you very much.”
