【ルワンダ受講生インタビュー】Patrickさん「パーソナルアシスタントアプリを作りたい！」

ルワンダ受講生のPatrickさんにインタビューいたしました。パーソナルアシスタントアプリ作成の夢の他に、DICで出来るようになったことも語ってくれました。

2019年7月に開校した、ディープロルワンダ校。ディープロ東京校から代表の野呂とメンターが1名、現地に渡航してプログラミングを教えてきました。

学習が進んで1ヶ月した頃に受講生インタビューを実施！Bahati Patrickさんにお話を伺いました。

初めての1日8時間授業、はじめは慣れないことばかり

ディープロでプログラミングを勉強し始めて1ヶ月経ちましたが、お気持ちはいかがですか？

It has been one month since you started learning here. How do you feel about studying programming in DIVE INTO CODE?

Patrickさん「この1ヶ月で、プロジェクトや課題など、さまざまなことをこなしてきました。残り3ヶ月ですが、このプログラムが終わる頃には、デキるソフトウェアエンジニアになっていたいです。」

Mr. Patrick “I have achieved great things this month such as projects and tasks. We have three months left and I hope I’m gonna be a good software developer.”

プログラミングは難しいですか？簡単ですか？

Is it hard or difficult?

Patrickさん「Rubyでのプログラミングは初めてだったので大変難しいです。その上、大学生の頃は1日に3時間しか授業がなかったのに対し、ここでは1日中授業があるのでそれも辛かったです。1週間ほどで慣れてきたので、もう丸一日の授業も問題ないですけどね。」

Mr. Patrick “It’s hard because programming in Ruby was new and I only had to sit in the class for three hours a day. So right here, it’s a full day and it was hard but when one week passed, I already get used to it, so it’s all good.”

自動化の促進で、社会の発展に貢献したい

どのようにプログラミングを学び、どのように自国のために活かしたいですか？

How do you want to learn programming and use it in your country?

Patrickさん「ITを専攻し、現在はディープロで学んでいるので、多くのプロジェクトに参加して、発展に貢献したいです。IT化は日に日に増しています。僕は先駆者になりたいと思っています。まだITによる自動化が進んでいない業界はいくつもあります。それらのITによる自動化に携わりたいです。また、ディープロに参加できなかった子供たちのサポートもしていきたいです。」

Mr. Patrick “I was majoring in Information Technology and now I’m in DIVE INTO CODE, I want to contribute to developing a lot more projects. As our ICT, the level is increasing day by day, and I want to be a pioneer too. There are still some institutions that are not fully digital so I want to digitize most of the systems. And I’d like to support a lot of kids and those who couldn’t have a chance to join in DIVE INTO CODE.”

どのような業界に関わりたいですか？

Which institution or sector are you looking for?

Patrickさん「今考えているのは経済分野です。バスに乗る時に使うICカードがありますが、それをショッピングなど、いかなる支払いにも使えると便利ですね。」

Mr. Patrick “Maybe economic sector. We have the tap and go on our buses and it would be nice if we can use the same system while shopping and any payment.”

夢はパーソナルアシスタントアプリの開発

将来の夢を教えてください。

What is your dream?

Patrickさん「僕は常にいろいろことを考えているので、タスクのリマインダーなどの機能を持ったパーソナルアシスタントアプリが欲しいです。僕の夢は、人の日頃のルーチンワークに沿った独自サポートを提供してくれる、そんなパーソナルアシスタントアプリを開発し、多くの人に使ってもらうことです。そのアプリケーションは、家にいながらオンラインで買い物できたり、料理の作り方を教えてくれたりするでしょう。」

Mr. Patrick “Always a lot of things are in my head and I want some digital personal assistant which has reminder function for example. I want to create some application that is used by many people to support their daily routine. Maybe you can shop online at home and watch cooking tutorials when you cook on that assistant application too.”

その夢を叶えた後で、次にしたいことはありますか？

After you realize that dream, is there anything you want to do?

Patrickさん「その次は、物品販売を行なう会社がその商品を掲載できて、顧客がオンラインで気に入った商品を見つけ、購入することができるアプリケーションを作ることです。」

Mr. Patrick “I would like to develop a platform that every company can upload their products and customers can buy online. It’s a digital service.”

ディープロでできるようになったのはプログラミングだけじゃない！

ディープロに何か一言お願いします。

Please give some comments to DIVE INTO CODE.

Patrickさん「今でこそタイムマネジメントを行なえるようになりましたが、ディープロに参加する前は全くできませんでした。いつもあれやる、これやると言っていた割に、全くいつやるのか、できるのかなどを考えていませんでした。しかしここに来てからは、ランチならランチ、休み時間なら休み時間と、全てが時間通り動くので、時間管理を行なえるようになったことは良かったなと思います。

次にKPTについてです。ここのプログラムでKPTを実践してみて実感しているのは、自分ができるようになったことや続けたいことを見直すことができて、KPTがとても実用的な考え方であることです。

最後は、ディープロがいろいろなことを皆とシェアすることです。プログラムをシェアしたり、ルワンダで受講していながら、日本の受講生とまで繋がれるんです。僕が大学生の頃は、生徒はただ学校へ行き、授業を受け、終わったら帰るだけでした。知識をシェアすることは、他の人の視点も知ることができて、とても良い勉強方法だと思います。本当にありがとうございました。」

Mr. Patrick “First, I now can manage time. Before joining DIVE INTO CODE, for example, I always said ‘yeah, I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that!’ without thinking about time, but here, everything is on time, like when it’s lunch, it’s lunch, and if it’s break, it’s break. So, now, I can time-manage myself.

The second thing is about KPT. KPT is really good for tracking what you achieved and what you want to keep doing. I really like KPT and it helps me a lot.

The third thing is sharing our knowledge and tasks. In my university, we just go to the class and stay to listen to the class, and just go home after classes are done. But here in DIVE INTO CODE, we share our codes and even connect to Japanese students. I think sharing our knowledge is very helpful since you can see others’ points of view. Thank you very much.”
